Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Government of Karnataka and Garden City University Bengaluru jointly organizes Run for Unity on the 147th birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, 31st October 2022

Commemorating the values of Sardar Vallabhai Patel on the occasion of his 147th birth anniversary, Garden City University joined hands with the Government of Karnataka in the ‘Run for Unity’ programme organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, conducted as part of the National Unity Day celebrations held under the aegis of AKAM and week-long ‘Ekta Saptah’ programme from 25th to 31st October 2022.

The Government of India observes the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel as the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) on 31st October every year to foster and reinforce our dedication to preserve and strengthen the unity, integrity and security of the nation. Sardar Vallabhai Patel not only played a leading role in India’s freedom but also made unparalleled contributions to the merger of princely states and jagirs of various princely estates into the Union of India. The Run for Unity honours his contributions and aims to strengthen the feeling of patriotism and national unity among the public, especially the youth of our country.

The Bangalore event of the Run for Unity commenced from the Kanteerava Stadium at 8:00 in the morning and finished at the Vidhana Soudha. The event, which was graced by the presence of Mr. M. N. Nataraj, State Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Mr. Anil Kumar M, Deputy Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, and Mr. Christo Joseph, Director of Strategy and Planning, Garden City University, saw participation from the young volunteers (students) of Garden City University who were informed of the importance of Sardar Patel in our nation building process and his values along with the need to celebrate National Unity Day. A national unity pledge was delivered in 3 languages (Kannada, English & Hindi) by the participants which invoked the values of unity as per the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
