Organisational Culture of Emotional Connect
With more and more Gen Z joining the workforce, keeping the attrition rates low seems to be a greater cause of concern for the HR managers. Known for their desire to make an impact on the world, they prefer an autonomous work environment. They like organisations which invest in their learning, are authentic and provide them with a fair work life balance. Creating an organisational culture of emotional connect is one way to keep them motivated, engaged and committed in order to keep the churn rate low. Emotional connect refers to the attachment and feelings that employees have towards the organization they work for. It is the bond that employees have with the organization beyond just a contractual relationship. The first step towards building an emotionally connected organisation, is to make the stakeholders connected to the vision, mission and purpose of the organisation.
The vision and mission statements of an organisation serve as a compass that directs its employees towards a common purpose. Employees that feel emotionally attached to an organization's vision and mission are more likely to be engaged, inspired, and devoted to accomplishing their goals. Leaders and managers can build emotional connection in the workplace by expressing the mission and vision of the organisation, leading by example, providing chances for employee participation, and recognising and rewarding employees who display a strong commitment to the organization's mission.
