Pt.Naviin Gandharv , the ‘’Real Gandharv’’ who made the instruments speak

Pt. Naviin Gandharv is a young and multi-talented musician who plays this unique instrument called ‘Belabaharr,’ which was invented nearly 4 decades ago by his father & Guru Pt.Babulal Gandharv.

Belabaharr is a one-of-a-kind instrument that merges the principles of Violin, Sarangi & Vocal music .

Pt.Naviin continues to drive this legacy of the Belabaharr with single handed efforts other than playing it differently with new creativity of poetic & aesthetic essence & that in a world where vocal music has the highest preference. Belabaharr is not just a gift to the world of music but also the pride of our India.

Pt.Naviin is also a class distinct Tabla player with equal passion & dexterity which gives listeners a melodic & spiritual bliss developed from years of saadhna, listening , learning , & inspirations from great Maestros .

Pt.Naviin's association with great maestros has polished him to be a dynamic & versatile performer only one of its kind. It is said that melody & rhythm is a rare combination. But with immense dedication to music Pt.Naviin has lived up to his name .The well known Spiritual Painter Shri Udayraj Gadnis has named him as the 'Real Gandharv' on Earth.

Born on 20 December 1976 in the heart of Dewas, a didtrict in Madhya Pradesh, India, where music is cherished since generations being born in the aristocratic family of Pt Babulal Gandharv ,Paternal Grandfather Pt. Kashiram Gandharv a celebrated Sarangi Master & maternal Grandfather Pt Maansingh Gandharv a multi instrumentalist. All his uncles & cousins are into music like Pt.Kailash G Ashok G, Prem G, Nandkishore G, late Shankarlal G, Late Radheshyam G, Parmanand G, Devanand G & many more

Pt Naviin started his musical journey as a Tabla Player , he got attracted with the Tabla  inspired by his maternal side  Nanaji Pt. Maan Singh, without even learning literally after completing SSC in a short time he could play brilliantly,  during his college he won many youth instrumental music competitions like Dalmia Utsav, Aavishkar, Gokhale Utsav.

Watching his interest his father then put him in the tutelage of  , Pt.Vishwanath Mishra & later at Tabla Legend Ustad Allarakha Khansahab where he grasped the fragrance of Punjab gharana 

Impressed by his talent legends like  Ustad Rais Khan, Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan & Pt.Brij Narayan shared with him some priceless Tabla secrets & intricacies of taal mathematics.

As a Tabla player he was going smoothly towards a lustrous concert career in solo & accompaniment both with Legends & contemporaries  but a thought that who will take over his father's legacy of the wonderful instrument 'Belabaharr'. Continuously thinking on this he finally took up the challenge that it can be no one but himself & he then switched from a professional Tabla player to a beginner in the Belabaharr. It takes big courage to sacrifice his passion and choose his father’s legacy of the Belabaharr otherwise if you go to see, many in his family & elsewhere, maximum artists have chosen a comfortable option of singing or electronic instruments. Pt.Naviin gives this credits to his father ,brother who have always been a big support in his music journey & last but the most to his late mother Smt.Champa Gandharv for being on his side at every juncture

He has been Awarded with  Taal Mani & later Sur Mani from the prestigious organization Sursingar Samsad from the blessing hands of the great Vocalist & musicologist Pt Dinkar Kainkini ji & Shrinathji Samman from Sangeet Nritya Mandal Dewas M.P.

Instruments don't have anyone language but Pt.Naviin ji has been successful in making these instruments speak & created his own audience & fan following all over by single handed efforts popularizing the Belabaharr & also being loyal to the art of Tabla. The unique attribute of Pt.Naviin  is, he is one of the rare artists to be selected by ICCR Indian Council for Cultural Relations in both the solo instruments.

Pt.Naviin has conducted many lecture demonstrations & workshops of music for Essar Group, Whistling Woods International,  Chinmaya mission guiding youngsters who are inspired with his music . Pt.Naviin has been appointed to Judge many prestigious music competitions like St Xaviers College Malhar Festival, probably the biggest youth festival in India & had been invited to Judge Suburban Latur Classical music Competition.

Pt.Naviin ji has been featured several times exclusively on Radio Mirchi with Rj Sukhi,Radio fever 104 HT Media with RJ Roshan, , RJ Jugni.

Pt.Naviin was chosen by UNESCO to urge world leaders to take action for climate change with a Virtual Belabaharr Performance, by A3P Connections from Ohio, USA to perform exclusively for the International Baithak Series & Bharat FM Cincinati Chicago US.

He has been a part of a  national integrity song by Showcase events called ' Synthesis '

with senior artists like Ravi Iyer, Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Ustad Hidayat Khan, Pt Ajay Prasanna & many others. Pt.
