RELEASE of 'Things I told Myself' BY JAHNAVI GOGOI BORAH

Griffin Publication launched the debut collection of poetry by author/poet Jahnavi Gogoi Borah on the 19th of March, at 6:30 pm ,IST on the Griffin platform. The launch was on Zoom and attended by eminent authors / poets from across the world. The distinguished guests who graced the occasion were Shiju H. Pallithazeth, Chief guest, Founder-Motivational Strips. Co-president-World Nations Writers Union.Global advisor-LLSF and bestselling author of Katashi Tales,Swapna Behera Special guest ,Author, Social activist ,Editor, Cultural ambassador of Inner child press U.S. FOR India and South East Asia, Poetess Mary Lynn Luiz, guest of honor, Melissa Begley educationist and author, Guest of honor, Barbara Ehrentreu, author, poet, educationist and media person and  Guest of honor, Well-known poet Ann Thrope and Sreekala P Vijayan, an author/poet, educationist also a moderator at Motivational Strips-World’s most active literary forum.

 

'Things I told Myself' is a book of poems by the Indo-Canadian author Jahnavi Gogoi Borah. The book has already created quite a stir due to its unique content and soulful verse. The poet was congratulated for the meaningful debut by the hallowed personalities. The event took off with a short speech by Shiju H. He had some words of wisdom for the poet. After bestowing praise for the poem titled 'Departure' and the title of the book he articulated that now after the release it was also the responsibility of the author to treat it as their offspring and make sure it reaches as many readers as possible. Swapna Behera, author and activist expressed her admiration and lauded the depth of the verse. Poetess, Mary Lynn Luiz had a lot of praise for the poem 'Words' and how it captured the ecstasy and agony of the creative process.The poem  'Trees' was praised for the way it depicted the cosmic connection to nature by the eminent poetess Melissa Begley. She also wished the author success in reaching out to the readership that she hoped for. The poem Girl, Birds which were recited by the post received special mention during the launch. Ann Thrope expressed how poets should brush off criticism and continue on their brave path. The prime responsibility of any writer/ poet was to write no matter what the world had to say. Barbara Ehrentreu especially requested the poet to recite the poem 'Girl' for it’s inherent message of finding one’s identity and sense of self.She expressed her desire to carry on a further conversation about the book on her radio show. Sreekala P Vijayan, a poet in her own right complimented the poet on her rendition of her poetry and commended the poetry in  'Things I told Myself'.

 

There was a brief interview session where the poet took the opportunity to answer a few questions about the book and her poetry, also what inspired her to write the book.

 

The verdict was unanimous. The title of the poem, the cover page were all totally in sync with the content within. The cover artist Papiya Saha had managed to capture the essence of the poems in a way which made the poet Melissa Begley comment that the poetry was in fact a portal to the poet’s inner world. The session came to an end with a vote of thanks by the popular author Shiju. H. Pallithazeth where he also exhorted the poet to keep writing. Jahnavi Gogoi Borah signed off with her short poem 'Girl'and expressed thanks to Griffin publication and all the eminent personalities in attendance. The CEO OF Griffin Publication also congratulated the poet and recited a couple of lines from the poem 'Insomnia'. All in all the launch was a huge success and a perfect platform provided by Griffin publication to showcase the writer Jahnavi Gogoi Borah’s journey .
