RITZZZE - I HAVE STILL NOT MADE IT. I RECENTLY GOT STOPPED AT A NIGHTCLUB FOR ENTRY
Ritzzze is on an all-time high. The last one year has been all about him travelling and his music going viral. He says," The last one year professionally has been great. It feels like 17 years of working on my craft has finally borne results."
Workwise, Ritzzze plans to release a Bengali original. He says," I've been thinking about releasing a Bengali rap song. I think my last rap release was 3 - 4 years back. I'm currently looking at some new talent. The song's idea will be female-centric. It's me giving my respect to every woman out there who is free-thinking and independent. "
What about gigs and cities? He says," I'm doing Bangalore, Guwahati, Siliguri, Bilaspur ( that's going to be for the first time ) and Delhi again in the next two months. I did go and perform in Gurgaon two months back and totally loved it. That place has its own warm vibe, and people really know how to party and enjoy themselves."
We asked him if the sudden growth in his deejaying career changed his life? He humbly says," I don't think I'm at that level yet. I still think I'm at a primitive level if you talk about fame. Yes, I'm known amongst the clubbing circuit in India, but I still have to build the brand. The STREETSTYLE clothes and merchandise have been a dream, and it's something I've wanted to do for many years. I want people to have a voice and maintain their originality. My music is songs you've heard a billion times, but the vibe and sound are different. It's a remix or a remake every time. Recently I had a humbling experience at a club in my city. So I was recently stopped at a nightclub for entry. They came up with something called MEMBERS ONLY when clearly I've been in the business long enough to know what that means. It honestly never hurts my ego because I'm someone who doesn't get phased out. I just get more motivated to do better, and it's a reminder that there is much more work to be done. OF COURSE, if I have to ever work with them, I will. It's going to be more fun if I ever see them partying on one of my nights. The tongue and cheek humour will kick in without offending anyone."
Ritzzze maintains that the year 2022 is a big year, and as usual, he feels he is one hit song away from taking things to a whole new level.
It's always helpful and heartfelt to see one Kolkata deejay defying all odds and living his dream is probably the most competitive business in the world.
