Dr. Anil Kumar’s Maheshwar Laxmi Memorial Foundation: Transforming and Strengthening Divyangs' Lives
People with disabilities are often described as having abnormal functioning physical, mental or psychological processes. It is also defined as learning disabilities or social adjustment difficulties associated with normal human growth and development. A disabled child is one who lacks innate or mental abilities and cannot partially or fully independently take care of the basic needs including work and social life. They deserved love, care, support and equal opportunity. We need people in society who promote inclusivity, offer support, understanding and advocate for their rights. Several NGOs fight for the rights of these people and support them, so they get fair and equal opportunities in life. One such organisation is The Maheshwar Laxmi Memorial Foundation, Founded by a well-known social worker Dr Anil Kumar.
Maheshwar Laxmi Memorial Foundation is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for the development of economically weaker sections of Indian society, including tribal and indigenous communities. It also works in urban slums, backwards and settlements by launching welfare and social service programs such as free medical care, free education and vocational training, etc. Non-governmental organisations are usually called, are organisations engaged in carrying out various activities for the benefit of disadvantaged people and society as a whole. As the name suggests, NGOs operate independently without financial support from the government, although they may work closely with government agencies to implement their projects.
The Maheshwar Laxmi Memorial Foundation is involved in revolutionary work for the complete development of Divyang Persons. The NGO wants to build an inclusive society where disabled persons can achieve their packed potential. There is an old saying that “God gives everyone a thing less along with something special.” Dr Anil Kumar and his team work to find the additional quality of such children and help them to reach a new level.
Apart from helping the Divyangs, the organisation also works on more than one issue for the upliftment of society. They are doing samuhik vivah and helping the families who don’t bear the heavy expenses of marriages. The NGO also played an important role in fighting the covid-19 in collaboration with Jivodaya hospital At Ashok Vihar Delhi. The volunteers of the foundation also conduct health camps at regular intervals for those who can't afford it, with the help of doctors.
Dr Anil Kumar said, “There is a different happiness in helping the needy one, if I have something more than I need, then give it to those who need it more than you.” The organisation is doing the all-round growth of Specially Abled People. They help the children by providing self-development & job perspective opportunities, financial assistance to Divyangs and their families for education, sports training with required equipment as well for Specially Abled People (Divyang) and motivate them to do well in all aspects of life.
Under the umbrella of the Maheshwar Laxmi Memorial Foundation, underprivileged students also get free computer training. They are trained by specialists in the field who also teach them practical training for hands-on experience. Expert individuals and teammates make sure the children receive the best education on technology. They also provide basic training with advanced courses to students so that they can have better career perspectives at their coaching centres.
Dr Anil Kumar has a dream of making every student proficient in using computers and surviving in today’s digital world, thus, he is on a mission to make it a reality. For his work in the field of philanthropy, Dr Anil Kumar has also been honoured with the Guest Of Honour award at the reputed Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam Inspiration Awards 2023, held at Vigyan Bhawan. Maheshwar Laxmi Memorial Foundation is setting a milestone by working on children's rights, senior citizen rights, women's welfare, youth support and rural development across India. Being an NGO they are an inspiration for the organisations, who are eager to help the society by welfaring the deprived sections of society.
