Federation of Indian Industry and German Chambers of Commerce hold Indo-German Business Summit
Former Union Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu and Indian emissary to G20 and G7, Mr. Deepak Jain, Director General, FII, India, key industries, policy makers, and stakeholders participated in the event. Focusing on the importance of trade between India and Germany, the hub of economic activity in Europe, Mr. Prabhu stressed to boost the cooperation between the two countries focusing on technology and solving Global development issues. Many Indian students’ study in Germany and both countries can look towards better benefits accruing through the academic exchange. India and Germany have major areas of collaborations in the sectors of renewable, Green and solar energy, skill development, urban development with focus on water/waste/sanitation, sustainable development and environment. Defense, culture, science and technology could be other areas of cooperation. He further added that economies of both countries are closely interlinked.
Mr. Deepak Jain stressed that the business summit is to support the exchange between enterprises from India and Germany. He further presented numerous business opportunities to small and medium-sized enterprises which are the backbone of the German economy. Mr. Jain said, FII has chapters in many countries including Germany and France. Indian MSME industries may get support from EABC in the advancement of technology. He further emphasized that on account of ease of doing business in India, European investors must seek opportunities in India and FII can help them in this regard. Assistant Vice President of Invest India, Mr. Jayant Singh, informed the investors on several production-linked incentives schemes which are offered by the government under the self-reliant India scheme. Indian states also presented several investment opportunities and invited them to invest in their states. FII is the interface between Indian Industries and the government of India.
Among the distinguished guests of honor Dr. P. Anbalagan. CEO, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation said that they mandate industrial development along with employment generation in the state and country along with preservation of our natural resources and conservation of the ecosystem. He said that they believe that it is imperative for the nation and the world to further develop sustainably. Together with FII it is possible.
Mr. Jayant Singh, Assistant Vice President of Invest India said that the Indian economic ecosystem has immensely been reformed. The ease of doing business policies in India has attracted foreign investors. Invest India can work in close coordination with FII to boost Investment in key and strategic areas of the economy
Representatives from German provinces of Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Saxony stated their common vision for collaboration with their Indian counterparts and facilitating trade and investment with them. Ms. Jana Feuerstack and Ms. Meier from Saxony Anhalt further added that startups may be other areas of cooperation. Mr. Sven Erichson of chamber of commerce Magdeburg/ Enterprise Europe Network Sachsen-Anhalt, thanked all the investors, government functionaries, stakeholders, and over 50 participants for their valuable time and inputs. He further promised to develop a platform for better felicitation and cooperation between the key stakeholders of these regions to promote trade and investment.
Wilbert Somers from Chamber of Commerce stressed the need for a follow up event to explore the possibilities of investments in the state of Thuringia, Franziska Kindervater representing the State Development Thuringia reiterated the need to expand the existing business ties between India and Germany in multiple sectors and invited Indian business delegations to Hannover Messe.
Mr. Abhishek Singh, secretary general of Bihar entrepreneurs association enunciated the investment landscape of state of Bihar and the measures being taken to make an investment friendly destination in India.
Ms. Katja Hönig from Chamber of Commerce explained historical significance of state of Saxony and how it is a forerunner in the semiconductor industry in Germany. Mr. Jan Filip representing Saxony Economic Development Agency emphasized on the Infrastructure initiatives that are underway to compliment the Industry scape in the state of Saxony.
Towards the end, Mr. B. Muthukumarasamy special secretary Industrial Development & NRI affairs highlighted how UP development model is being lauded across India and world and invited German business to invest in UP and explore the collaborations in future
Mr. Gaurav Sharma from Indian Embassy, Berlin assured the full support on behalf of Indian mission in Germany in all possible ways to improve the trade and commerce between India and Germany.
