From film industry to e-commerce platforms, Abhinav M is now up with a one-stop store for your market needs, PromoCrew
The hard-working and multi-talented Abhinav M started his journey through the alleys of an assistant director in the southern apex of Malayalam Film Industry and then on step-by-step grew through the ladders into multi-dimensional and different Malayalam projects. He was merely 16 years old in 8th standard when his journey began! Inspired by his mother, he wished to narrate stories to the world. “It was, is and always will remain my passion”, he says about film making. His father played a crucial role in his success by teaching him the intricacies of storytelling. Abhinav grew listening to his father's stories since childhood. He has researched and delved deeper into the emotions of motion visuals beyond stories. Through the kickstart, he jumped into the marketing arena where he came face-to-face with the advertising field to meet his day-to-day income. “As a budding filmmaker, it is difficult to mint money at the first stage”, he argues and which is correct. However, just because you are struggling, does not mean you are failing.
The entertainment sector is a large sea that mirrors our society in general. Play is the creation of fun, while entertainment is the enjoyment of fun. Entertainment has a way of resetting. The creative works of the entertainment business are the property of the millions of people who create them. There is inherent friction in film production between the filmmaker, the money, and the producer, and it is this tension that keeps things flowing, honest, and accountable. This industry in itself is a whole ocean, however, Abhinav M not only handles the filmmaking industry but also an advertising agency and a newly started e-commerce platform for Indian weavers and designers.
Without any connections, nor a godfather or anyone to show him around a shooting location, he started to dig his way into the entertainment industry through baby steps. His first milestone ever was through Facebook, where he freelanced as a designer for movie posters and anniversaries. As his fame grew, he shone into the eyes of stalwarts and one such veteran filmmaker, Pratap Pothen, invited him to manage his Facebook page. For the next period of time, Pratap Pothem became his mentor.
If there is one thing historians can agree with the film industry, it is its intense precarity. The word “struggler” means something so specific in filmmaking that it has become a part of urban patois. To struggle in the film industry is to hustle for that elusive “big break” in terms of motion pictures. The “struggler” is a very specific social figure, someone who aspires to make a name in the film business but who has no insider contacts or social connections. In this context, the struggle is both a response to and symptom of the many precarities that continue to mark film industries today.
Abhinav M has put his sweat and blood into stalwarting and skyrocketing his journey through the bushes and scrubs of the entertainment industry. He had already dug his way into different movie sets even before starting with his college. For what accounts as struggle, he used to make up his pocket money through computer repairs at the time, which he had self-taught himself. With a zeal to accomplish his goals at any cost, he has now established his own brand company PromoCrew. PromoCrew is a well crafted advertisement company that is designed to provide the best strategies for the promotion of their clients. They build strategies for both offline and online ads and provide contents to maximise the reach. PromoCrew is currently working rigorously and passionately with a number of countless brands focusing on the areas of digital marketing, video production and other offline marketing. Many well-established brands have their preference as PromoCrew.
When the hard times, not of Dickens, but of the COVID-19 pandemic struck the entire world, it shook the whole of the market and all of the industry. Covid-19 lockdown destroyed the lifestyle of handloom weavers as weaving was the only means of earnings for them. At these difficult times, Abhinav M, knew the importance of the Indian fabric industry. Through his statements, he made it clear the high demand of Indian fabric with its ethnic, earthly colored and many textures. It is true that the textile sector accounts for about 40 percent of the total export. This conveys that it holds potential if one is ready to innovate. The multi-talented Abhinav M came up with the innovation that was much awaited. He along with his friends has developed the idea into an e-commerce platform where only the Indian weavers and designers can promote and sell their products. “For that we thought we will make all of them as individual brands. We’re going through the pre round investments now”, he stated when asked about the strategy.
Meanwhile, our young polymath Abhinav M, who is just 25 presently, has even been working on his debut independent feature film in Tamil which is expected to be announced by this November. Another of his major projects called Yesthra is up for a visit here. For these and all his future endeavours, we wish him the best.
