From Weekend Travellers To Travel Entrepreneurs

A bunch of adventurous souls enjoyed travelling into the hills and mountains to satisfy their adrenaline rush. This was their ritual every weekend, and on many weekends they had numerous mountain trips. But very little did they know then that their passion for travelling would eventually transform into a business of passion.

Meet Ankan Bhowmik, Sujoy Das, and Diptan Baidya, respectively the Founder & CEO, Co-Founder & COO, and Co-Founder of Weekend Do It, one of the fastest growing tour and travel companies in India.

"I, along with my friends Sujoy and others, used to travel a lot on the weekends during our graduation days. We mostly loved the hills and mountains of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab. These numerous trips and treks left us in awe and instilled a passion within us to turn this passion into a profession," expresses Bhoumik.

And after several rounds of talks and discussions, 'Weekend Do It' was officially launched on August 1, 2022.

The name was suggested by Ankan, which the other founders instantly agreed upon. The name is heavily inspired by their personal weekend trips and treks.

However, before officially launching the company, they went on different treks to understand the nitty-gritty of running a travel company and what travellers might expect. They spent almost a year and a half in preparation and research before taking the plunge.

"We also have ISO certification for providing treks of the best quality to our clients," he adds quickly.

The company, which has offices in Sikkim, Tripura, and Uttarakhand, is getting frequent bookings, and this is primarily because of their pocket-friendly packages.

The team offers low-cost packages so that more students can afford them. Students are more energetic to climb hills and cross water passes while trekking and exploring new places and this thought made them to make this adventure special for students with economical packages.

"We began with treks in Uttarakhand, but now we also organise treks in Sikkim, Meghalaya, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, West Bengal, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Jammu and Kashmir," further added the Weekend Do It CEO.

Hailing from the princely state of Tripura, the trio went to Dehradun to pursue higher education. However, fate had already written a different script for them.

"During our numerous trips, we met different people from various backgrounds, and each meeting taught us something, thus opening different horizons for us. These meetings helped us understand life better; what they wanted to do in life or what they were doing in life also infused a zeal in us, and we also wanted to do something meaningful in life. And thus, Weekend Do It came into existence," shares COO Sujoy Das.

'Weekend Do It' is not just a company or a brand; it is the founders' baby, and they are going extra miles in giving everything to it.

So, next time you want to go for a trek, remember the name and book a memorable trekking expedition with this fast-growing tour and travel company. And to do that, you need to share your travel details with the company 15–20 days prior to your trip. Book it and become tension-free, as the company will then take care of your every need—from your food to your stay, transportation, a guide, medical facilities, and all other essentials.

Diptan Baidya, the co-founder informs that they are not like any other tour and travel company operating in the market. Apart from offering the most affordable packages, they also introduce their clients to the different cultures of different states, provide self-drive vehicles to clients who are uncomfortable travelling in groups, and also give away referral points. With these referrals, the clients stand a chance to avail of a free sponsored trip.

In this short span, the company has grown, serving over 500 clients in just over three months. Apart from visiting the usual trekking heights, the company has also explored several previously unexplored places and worked with over 100 associates.

So, the next time you want to go trekking, keep Weekend Do It: Your Best Travel Buddy in your mind.
