Initially trained in Kathak, her passion for acting was put on hold due to life's challenges. However, in 1984, after relocating to Kanpur for her education, fate intervened. Mamta's participation in cultural activities paved the way for her first role in the theater industry.
She went on to excel in various renowned plays, including "Dil Ki Dukan," "Kala Dweep," "Sipahi Ki Maa," and "The Crime Never Ends," captivating audiences across Uttar Pradesh.
Mamta's journey took unexpected turns as she faced personal trials, with her husband suffering memory loss and her own battle with breast cancer in 2015. After a strenuous battle, including a successful operation, six rounds of chemotherapy, 25 radiation sessions, and two years of bedrest, Mamta's resilience shone through. She made a triumphant comeback to the silver screen, entering the world of Bollywood.
Today, Mamta Saxena is celebrated for her compelling portrayals of veteran characters in popular films like "Ishaqzaadey," "Bullet Raja," "Hotel Milan," "Pati Patni aurVoh," and many more. Several of her projects, including a web series, are currently in post-production.
