Delberto Ecommerce Pvt. Ltd. & CRPF Family Welfare Centre—Prayagraj to Start E-Commerce

The CRPF Family Welfare Centre in Prayagraj is planning to enable the wives of officers and jawans to start e-commerce. Delberto, an innovative community commerce company based out of Noida, organised a workshop to explore ways of empowering women members to start a sustainable business.

The CRPF Family Welfare Association came into existence as an NGO in 1995 to look after the welfare of the CRPF families while the men were away on duty to form a bigger universal family of the CRPF. Included among many others, the objectives of the CRPF Family Welfare Association are to generate a sense of accomplishment in the minds of CRPF ladies and develop managerial skills in them. They also took on the honourable responsibility of promoting programmes for the rehabilitation of widows, handicapped and mentally retarded children, and handicapped CRPF personnel.

For a few years now, the Family Welfare Centre in Prayagraj (a part of RCWA) has launched the initiative to engage the members in self-employment endeavors, which remained restricted to physical transactions such as neighborhood sales or annual events organized by the CRPF. With the community commerce platform of Delberto, the FWC now plans to launch a brand and platform where the initiative can be extended to the digital platform, providing a marketplace from which global buyers can also procure. With the help of the platform, CRPF-FWC can also make their products available to more than 2000 e-retailers that Delberto hosts on their platform.

More than 500 women attended the workshop where Delberto provided them with their e-commerce platform so they could start their business with zero upfront investment. Options for online retail stores were also provided to those who were not as efficient in their craft but needed an additional source of income. The Delberto model of providing a second source of income was initiated for them. They can now have online presence on www.artcraftmusic.com

For the next phase, a plan was also put in place to train them on financial literacy so that the added income is utilised efficiently. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Prabhakar Tripathi, DIG CRPF, emphasized both the need for income generation and wealth retention through good financial planning. In his words, "Every member of the CRPF family is our own. We need to ensure a stable income opportunity for the wives of martyrs. The Prayagraj initiative is just a pilot. We will expect to see it rolled out across the nation."

Ms Ranju Tripathi head of CRPF-FWC extended full support in organizing the work shop at Prayagraj. She was confident that the workshop will open many avenues for women associated.

Ms Pragya Singh, the founder of Delberto, emphasised the importance of having more women entrepreneurs, while Mr Prateek Ojha went on to instill confidence in the members. "All that you have to do is ensure that you produce enough. Delberto will ensure that there is a big enough sales funnel for consumption."
