Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose stood for militant nationalism for achieving India's freedom. According to him freedom and equality are interrelated. So freedom could be achieved only with socialism. There are four bases of socialism, national freedom, economic equality, social equality and equality of sexes, according to him. Bose strongly opposed what is called ‘communalism.’ Bose’s image of India’s future was inter-denominational.

He perceived an India of Hindus and Muslims, of Sikhs and Christians, of Parsis and Buddhists. He strictly opposed Jinnah’s two nation theory and advocated an India beyond religious, linguistic, and caste differences. Netaji believed that the working class cannot hope for emancipation at the hands of an external force, no great hero may come down to save the class. It is the working class themselves who must organize under the leadership of the revolutionary party, to emancipate itself from capitalism. In such a revolution, it is the working class that must lead.Born on January 23, 1897, Netaji played a crucial role in India's freedom movement.
